Favicons are small graphics that are used to symbolize a website by displaying the company logo, for example.
In the past, they tended to be used in the header/tab area of the browser window or in the bookmark and favorites lists (hence the favicon). Today, these icons fulfill many other functions. This also has to do with the increased use of cell phones.
For example, it is possible to link a homepage directly to the screen of a smartphone. This means you can open it at any time with just one tap.
To achieve this, the favicon graphics must have properties that go beyond the usual requirements of the past.
For the original browser functions, an image size of 16×16 px was sufficient. Currently, the size should be at least 512×512 px. Smaller favicons often look coarse and pixelated on high-resolution tablet or smartphone displays.
Color transparencies are possible for favicons. Displaying your own logo on a transparent background, for example, means that the logo is displayed on the respective background without any distracting frames. What looks particularly elegant in the browser, however, can be rather unfavorable when linked on the tablet display. Depending on the nature of the logo, it may appear cleaner and clearer to have a defined background and therefore a visible frame.
The next step is to integrate the graphics provided for the various systems (iOS/MacOS, Android, Windows, ...) into the source code of the website in a suitable manner.
Of course, it's all very easy with the All-round care package from MainetcareWe create your favicon according to your wishes and specifications and integrate it into the website.
